SPIRENT COMMUNICATIONS™ UNVEILS NEXT-GENERATION IP ROUTER TEST SYSTEM

Spirent Communications (NYSE: SPM;LSE: SPT) today announced its TRT Interactive test system for the evaluation of new voice, video and data services in complex IP routing networks. It and other Spirent solutions will be exhibited during the SUPERCOMM tradeshow (booth #11400).

The rollout of new IP services for voice, video and data -- including security and IPv6 -- depends significantly on the proper functioning of complex IP routing capabilities in increasingly large scale systems.
Spirent’s TRT Interactive has been specifically designed to overcome the challenges of time consuming set up and retesting by simplifying the evaluation of multiple protocols, traffic types, such as mixed IPv4/IPv6, and IP multicast.

Service providers deploying new technologies rely on validating the functionality, “five nines” reliability, and scalability of routers and other new network devices before they are installed in the network.
Spirent’s TRT Interactive offers a simple to use and powerful tool to test network devices, and to troubleshoot faults in order to minimize the business, financial and technical risks of deploying new services.

“Spirent TRT Interactive goes well beyond the performance arena,” said David Newman, founder and president of Network Test, an independent assessment lab for networking products and services. “The product's new interactive mode and test setup Wizards let users move seamlessly from functional to performance testing in a single application. That's a big improvement over existing tools, none of which offer the speed or breadth of features of TRT
Interactive.”

Network equipment manufacturers can use Spirent’s TRT Interactive to simulate complex network scenarios to assure the installation of network devices that can withstand the rigorous complexities of IP routing. TRT Interactive can assess application-specific IP Quality of Service (QoS) measurements, and allows service providers to evaluate and deploy all complex routing technologies consisting of next-generation networking services, such as Layer 2 and Layer 3 MPLS-VPNs, and multicast streaming media.

Spirent’s TRT Interactive is comprised of advanced interactive and diagnostic tools that can configure and validate a test set up at high speeds.
An interactive mode allows users to modify the control plane and data flows on the fly to instantly see results of data delivery and routing behavior, all reported within real-time graphs and statistics. Negative testing reveals how the routed systems deal with rogue data and other anomalies. If a failure is detected, a number of debugging tools can be employed without stopping the test. Upon completing a configuration, a wizard can be used to scale a test and assess performance of network devices.

“TRT Interactive offers incredibly low test times required for validating and ensuring performance for the deployment of new services,” said Mark Fishburn, vice president of technical strategy, Spirent Communications.
“Complexity and scale of new routers was making testing almost prohibitive in terms of time and resources. TRT Interactive now makes it possible to conduct tests in minutes rather than weeks.”

With TRT Interactive, scalability is available to an industry-leading 136 ports to test even the largest routers. Complete routing functionality and simultaneous testing is possible for all major multicast and unicast protocols and for IPv4 and IPv6. To simplify regression testing, TRT Interactive provides one-button generation of scripts from the GUI. It is field customizable via Spirent's Express Wizard service and has the ability to emulate an entire Internet for lab tests.
TRT Interactive is available now.
