US LEC Rolls Out Latest in VoIP Services

CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Delivering the latest technology to customers in the Sunshine State, US LEC Corp. , a super-regional telecommunications carrier providing integrated voice, data and Internet services to businesses and enterprise organizations throughout the Eastern United States, announced today that it has deployed Internet gateways in Tampa and Jacksonville, setting the stage to provide Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services to those markets later this month. US LEC plans to expand its VoIP efforts throughout 2004, extending the new services to more of its 100+ markets.

US LEC is utilizing its existing network infrastructure to support the VoIP service offering and has partnered with Cisco Systems(R) in the deployment of its gateways and Internet Access Devices (IADs). US LEC is also teaming with BroadSoft(R) in the deployment of the BroadWorks(R) platform to provide a comprehensive range of applications, enabling US LEC to support a wide array of services integral to VoIP deployment.
