Allixon selected as a Pioneer Technology Development Company of IITA, Korea

SEOUL, April 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IITA (Institute of Information Technology Assessment), an affiliated organization of the MIC (The Ministry of Information and Communication) of the Republic of Korea, selected Allixon as a Pioneer Technology Development Company.
Allixon proposed the project "The development of Mobile Internet Application Development Tool based on WIPI" and "Multi-Platform Converter" and was selected by the IITA. This project allows mobile contents and services based on Java 2 Micro Edition and Qualcomm's BREW platforms to be converted into WIPI easily and quickly.
The MIC previously announced that WIPI will be the Korean Mobile Internet Standard Platform so that mobile contents providers and handset developers will all have a standard protocol for development and avoid overlapping investments in developing contents for all the various mobile internet platforms such as WAP, J2ME and BREW available.
The Korean market for mobile communication was about 14 billion dollars in 2003 and there are approximately 34 million users. This makes up about 70% of the entire Korean population. Among these mobile users, 32 million users own handsets that are mobile internet ready. The approximate market for mobile internet was estimated at 1.6 billion dollars in 2003.
After finishing this project in September 2004, Allixon is expected to occupy an important position in the Korean mobile internet market whose size is forecasted to grow to 3.2 billion dollars by the year 2005.
