SAFLINK LAUNCHES PHYSICAL ACCESS PRODUCTS FOR DOORWAY-TO-DESKTOP SECURITY SYSTEM

SAFLINK® Corporation (NASDAQ: SFLK), a leading developer, marketer, and integrator of biometric security solutions, today launched two physical access control products: SAFpassage and SAFcard. SAFpassage is a full-featured, easily managed strong authentication solution designed to provide secure, auditable, and scalable physical access control, improving both building security and entry/exit convenience. SAFcard is designed to enable enterprises to increase their level of physical security by adding strong authentication technology to existing premises security systems and replacing PINs or pass codes.

Both products are part of SAFLINKs comprehensive physical access product line and key components of SAFLINKs Identity Assurance Management solution suite, an integrated doorway-to-desktop security environment designed to control facility, network, and application access, as well as digital signatures and time and attendance systems. SAFpassage and SAFcard use a variety of strong authentication technologies including fingerprint scans, iris recognition, smart cards, radio frequency (RF) badges, and proximity cards to help provide users with secure and convenient access to facilities and to help businesses protect critical assets, intellectual property, customer data, and high-value retail items.

Our access control products use one of the safest identifiers available the unique characteristics of an individuals fingerprint or iris pattern as well as leading card, token, and badge technology to positively verify personnel prior to granting premises access, said Bob Turbeville, VP of Physical Access for SAFLINK Corporation. Since there are no keys or passwords required for operation, the possibility of unauthorized access is eliminated. These solutions also offer highly regulated companies such as those in pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries a way to add auditing and non-repudiation functionality to access systems something that is not available with cards, tokens, or proximity cards alone. By adding fingerprint or iris authentication to an existing physical access system, customers can take advantage of all the benefits of biometrics at an economical cost and ensure a rapid return on investment.

SAFpassage is designed to be cost-effective for the smallest implementation, yet scales to meet the demanding requirements of large, complex organizations. The standard SAFpassage Node Controller Unit (NCU) a centralized server for user account and system management provides template management for more than 10,000 users while controlling up to 32 connected SAFpassage Door Controller Units (DCU); additional NCU/DCU combinations can be added at any time. The SAFpassage DCU is a vandal-resistant box with a fingerprint scanner designed to withstand physical impact and extreme weather conditions. User management, device configuration, real-time monitoring, and event reporting are all available remotely through the included SAFpassage Web Admin no additional software or host systems are required.

Other product highlights include:

- Stand alone or network configurations

- Failsafe network operation

- Local and remote configuration and management

- Isolated door contact inputs/outputs

- Easy upgrade to time & attendance applications

SAFcard is designed to allow organizations to further secure their existing physical access system by adding biometrics. SAFcard stores each users biometric template along with legacy credential information on a secure card. To enter a facility, a user simply inserts or swipes a card and then places a finger on SAFcards biometric fingerprint scanner. SAFcard software then verifies the identity of the user by comparing the fingerprint being scanned with the fingerprint template recorded on the card, and opens the door if the templates match.

SAFLINK will display SAFsolution®, SAFpassage, and other doorway-to-desktop security products at International Security Conference West 2004, being held in the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas March 31-April 2. Visitors to the conference are invited to visit SAFLINKs booth #1045 to view product demonstrations.
