iPass Offers Free Wi-Fi Access In Support Of Intel's UnWired Day

In support of Intel's efforts around UnWired Day iPass will offer its enterprise customers free Wi-Fi access for the day, via its global virtual network.

The growing number of public hotspots in the U.S. and around the world are creating a compelling new opportunity for companies with mobile employees, says Jon Russo, iPass VP of marketing. Wi-Fi provides the enterprise workforce a tremendous opportunity for increased productivity both inside and outside the office.

What should the enterprise consider to truly leverage the value of Wi-Fi?
Business oriented venues such as airports and hotels - the places where the business traveler finds himself - are continuing to drive adoption, comments Russo. There are so many different Wi-Fi providers out there, users will be best served by selecting a single service which allows roaming across these varied networks.

What about Freenets?
Freenets are great for the consumer market or people who simply want to casually surf the Net. However, Russo adds, Freenets don't offer end users the security, bandwidth and business-oriented venue requirements needed to support the demand in the enterprise market for connectivity.
