Samsung Rolls Out CLP-500 Color Laser Printer

Samsung has introduced the robust CLP-500 color laser printer featuring its patent-pending NO NOIS static engine. Designed to meet a variety of color imaging needs for small and medium-sized businesses, this extremely versatile model offers a host of industry-leading features not typically found on comparable units such as built-in automatic duplex units for error free two-sided printing and optional wireless capabilities. Given its optional network connectivity, the printer is also suitable for use in corporate workgroup environments.

Samsung is pleased to add the color printing capability to our award-winning laser printer and MFP lineup, said Rey Roque, Vice President of Marketing for Samsung's Digital Information Technology Division (DITD). The CLP-500 is a result of an extensive research and development effort to ensure that Samsung's first color laser printer maintains our commitment to offering the most innovative and advanced
technologies available today at an affordable price.

Ideal for any environment that requires the ability to generate professional color documents, the CLP-500 offers a number of added benefits to small and medium businesses to improve work quality and enhance the overall image of the company. For example, the CLP-500 can be used as a tool by an architect or construction contractor to assist with color-coding danger areas on a job site to reduce the risk
of accidents. With its automatic duplexing capabilities, the CLP-500 can also support business professionals with the production of impressive, two-sided marketing materials to help generate new business at a fraction of professional printing costs. Likewise, financial institutions can produce easy to read spreadsheets and color-coded financial documents to highlight specific gains and losses.

To meet the color and black and white printing needs of a diverse mix of small and medium-sized businesses, the CLP-500 offers an extremely competitive up to five-page-per-minute (ppm) color print speed and rapid 20-ppm rate (up to) for black and white documents. The whisper quiet unit's NO NOIS Static Engine incorporates fewer moving parts for increased reliability and minimal disruption. A robust standard memory of 64MB (expandable to 192MB) is also included to further ensure the efficient generation of color-rich graphics and razor-sharp
text.

With its automatic duplexing, optional network connectivity and wireless capabilities, the CLP-500 is the printer of the future, capable of managing a diverse set of document imaging needs as described above and in any situation where it is necessary to highlight or display certain data in various shades of color. The printer is networkable via an internal Ethernet 10/100 Base TX solution or a combination 10/100 Base TX and 802.11b wireless LAN.

When it comes to paper handling ability, the CLP-500 does not disappoint. It offers a 250-sheet cassette and 100-sheet document feeder as well as an optional second 500-sheet cassette. Thanks to its cassette-based design and alternate bypass feeder, the CLP-500 is also equipped to manage a full-range of paper types and sizes including envelopes, card stock, labels and transparencies, as well as 3 x 5 index cards.

Like several of Samsung's new printers, the CLP-500 features both built-in IEEE 1284 parallel and high-speed USB 2.0 interfaces, the latter of which is capable of transferring data at 480Mbps or 40 times faster than USB 1.1. It is also compatible with Windows, Macintosh and a wide distribution of Linux operating systems.
