ZTE signs agreement to end patent disputes with Ericsson

BEIJING, Feb 15, 2012 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- China-based telecom equipment manufacturer ZTE (000063.SZ) announced on Tuesday it had signed a deal with Ericsson to end patent disputes between them.

The two sides agreed to withdraw all the patent infringement lawsuits between them, including all patent disputes yet to close in Germany, UK and China.

On Tuesday, ZTE said it had received the decisions of withdrawal of the lawsuits issued by local courts, including the decision to withdraw the case brought by Ericsson against ZTE on patent infringement made by local courts in the UK and Germany, and the decision to withdraw the case brought by ZTE against Ericsson on patent infringement.

Infringement disputes between ZTE and Ericsson broke out in April 2011.

On January 20, ZTE said that it had communicated and negotiated with Ericsson on all the issues concerning patents involved in their cases, and both agreed to withdraw the charges for patent infringement against each other.

ZTE also says the reconciliation would not have a severe negative impact on the financial status and operation of the corporation. (Edited by Luo Jingjing, luojj@xinhua.org)
