UNITED NATIONS -- UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon on Friday
said that he will transmit the Goldstone report to the UN Security
Council at the request of the General Assembly.
"As requested by the General Assembly, I will transmit the
report of the Fact Finding Mission to the Security Council," Ban
told reporters here after he briefed 15-nation Security Council on

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva
said on Friday that paying good salaries to the police officers is
the only way to prevent them from accepting bribes from criminals.
According to the president, a well-paid and well-formed police
force is a guarantee of tranquillity to the society.

WASHINGTON -- The Obama administration of the United States on
Friday urged both exiled Honduran President Manuel Zelaya and
interim leader Roberto Micheletti to resume negotiations
immediately, saying the formation of a unity government is the
vital step to end political crisis in Honduras.
"We urge both sides to act in the best interests of the
Honduran people and return to the table immediately to reach
agreement on the formation of a unity government," said spokesman

KAMPALA -- Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Friday urged
authorities to involve the business community and farmers in the
process of the East African Community (EAC) integration because
they are the main drivers of the process.
Museveni who was opening a symposium here as part of Uganda's
celebrations to mark the EAC's 10th anniversary said the region
should borrow Europe's experience where the business community
