Xinhua world economic news summary at 0430 GMT, July 4

Jul 04, 2009 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- MOSCOW -- Russia's State Duma, the lower house of parliament, approved on Friday a Russia-China intergovernmental agreement on oil cooperation, the Itar-Tass news agency reported.

The agreement, which envisions long-term Russian oil supplies to China, was signed by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin and Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan in April. (Russia-China-Oil) - - - - LAGOS -- Nigeria on Friday in Abuja signed an Inter-Governmental Agreement with Algeria and Niger Republic to promote the Trans-Sahara Gas Pipeline project, the News Agency of Nigeria reported.



The agreement was signed by Nigeria's Minister of Petroleum Resources, Rilwan Lukman, Algerian Minister of Mines and Energy, Chakib Khelil, and Malam Mohammed Abdoulahi, Niger's Minister of Mines and Energy.

Lukman said the signing of the agreement is a significant stride in the actualization of a key element of the joint protocol on regional cooperation and development. (Nigeria-Gas-Pipeline) - - - - ANKARA -- There was no definite date for the inking of an intergovernmental agreement on the Nabucco pipeline project, Turkish media quoted Turkey's energy minister as saying Friday.


The European Commission, the executive body of the European Union, said in Brussels earlier Friday it had received an invitation from Turkey to a signing ceremony of the Nabucco agreement between Turkey and the participating EU member states on July 13. (Turkey-EU-Nabucco)
