WorldExtend's IronDoor(R) 3.5 Makes it Simple and Affordable for Any Organization to Implement a Telecommuting Program to Eliminate Fast-Escalating Commuting Costs

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. --(Business Wire)-- WorldExtend(R), a leading provider of remote data and application access software, is proud to announce that its IronDoor(R) 3.5 remote network access software will make it simple for small to medium sized organizations to immediately implement a realistic telecommuting program for staff. This follows recent research from such respected institutions as the Telework Exchange and MSNBC confirming that telecommuting can significantly reduce both environmental pollution and fast-escalating travel costs associated with inflated gas prices.

IronDoor 3.5's software-based secure remote network access enables small to medium sized organizations to set up a telecommuting or telework program by providing staff with secure, anytime/anywhere access to both applications and data (similar to Citrix). By ensuring that remote users can now securely access any resources they require, IronDoor 3.5 will facilitate staff in the reduction of rapidly-escalating costs associated with commuting - which recent MSNBC research estimates could save the average commuter $300 a month.

The Telework Exchange, a public-private partnership for promoting telework, recently surveyed 377 federal and private-sector employees and found that 92% believe they could do their jobs from home. However, as only 34% report that they presently telework, the potential unrealized savings could be as high as $38 billion in the U.S. alone.

Other studies have estimated that teleworking one to three days per week can actually increase overall employee productivity. Some noted examples of teleworking increasing productivity include:

-- American Express telecommuters handled 26% more calls and produced 43% more business than their office-based counterparts

-- Compaq Computer Corporation documented productivity increases ranging from 15-45%

-- Surveys and pilots conducted by IBM Canada (where about 20% of the workforce teleworks) indicate that employees can be as much as 50% more productive when they work in telework environments

Built on the robust and flexible Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) .NET framework, IronDoor 3.5 enables even small organizations to implement telecommuting initiatives by making it simple to securely manage credentials via a single web dashboard. This makes it simple for organizations to permit an unlimited number of employees, branch offices, suppliers, or customers to gain instant secure access to company applications and data stored on a secure central server in their control from any Microsoft Windows or Linux based web browser.

Additionally, because there are no open firewall ports, IronDoor 3.5 ensures that organizations do not have to sacrifice network security in order to benefit from the productivity gains associated with staff being able to remotely access company data or client/server applications, such as e-mail, accounting, billing programs, or home-grown applications.

"Commuting wastes valuable time and money, and negatively impacts both city infrastructure and the environment," said Steven Landau, CEO, WorldExtend, LLC. "But, while most organizations recognize the productivity benefits associated with telecommuting, many lack the technical expertise, infrastructure, or budget to use secure, remote access to applications and data," Landau continued. "By making it simple and affordable to implement secure remote access in a matter of minutes, IronDoor 3.5 finally makes it possible for any organization to set up a telecommuting or teleworking program - which is the most realistic and immediate green alternative to commuting."

Delivered via an extremely-simple and intuitive wizard-driven download that requires no dedicated hardware or dedicated IT resources, IronDoor 3.5 makes it easy for any organization to enjoy the increased business agility and productivity gains of telecommuting that were previously only available via extremely costly and complicated solutions. IronDoor's highly-flexible design also makes it easy for organizations to add additional value-added services and enhancements that can be customized and branded to meet business requirements.
