Woman stabbed after bar fight, Yuba City police say
Feb 06, 2012 (Appeal-Democrat - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
A 23-year-old Yuba City woman was in "critical, but stable" condition Monday, two days after she was repeatedly stabbed after getting into a fight at downtown bar with another woman who remains on the run, Yuba City police reported.
No arrests have been made, nor have any weapons been recovered.
Police declined to release the victim's name Monday to protect her identity. Officers said it "does not appear" the victim knew her attacker prior to Saturday.
Police spokeswoman Shawna Pavey said two women got into a "back and forth shoving" scuffle inside the Spur Lounge.
"After the bar closed, they left the bar and got into the real fight in which the victim was stabbed," Pavey said.
Investigators believe the second feud occurred around 2:30 a.m. somewhere on Walnut Avenue.
Because of the victim's medical condition, police were not able to interview her until Monday morning.
The woman was stabbed several times in her chest, abdomen and arm during the second altercation.
It is not clear what sparked the violence, but investigators do not believe the incident was gang-related.
Police described the woman's injuries as "non-life-threatening."
The suspected attacker fled in an unknown direction immediately after the victim was stabbed.
Pavey described the suspected attacker as "a heavyset Hispanic female in her mid-20s."
Anyone with information with any information about the attack is asked to contact Yuba City Police at 822-4661.
