Westside Academy II Students to Talk about Why They Love Their School

Students at Westside Academy II will celebrate National School Choice Week 2017 by vocalizing what they love so much about their school.

The students will print out signs that say "I Love My School" and take pictures with them, then display the photos. The signs and photos will go up on Monday, January 23, 2017.

Westside Academy II is a public school in the Milwaukee School District, serving 535 students in grades K-5.

The goal of the event is to celebrate great education choices in Wisconsin and raise awareness among parents about school choice. The celebration is timed to take place right before National School Choice Week (January 2-28, 2017), which will feature more than 21,000 events across the country.

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through more than 21,000 independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
