Volunteers collecting coats, blankets, donations today for Project Warmth
Nov 07, 2009 (The Kansas City Star - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Volunteers are collecting coats, blankets and donations today as part of the annual Project Warmth drive.
People are being asked to clean out their closets and drop off extra coats and blankets that they are no longer using or make a donation.
Volunteers will collect coats and blankets from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at Cable-Dahmer Chevrolet in Independence and Kansas City, Independence Center, The Legends at Village West, Metcalf South Shopping Center, Metro North Mall, Oak Park Mall, SummitWoods Crossing, Town Center Plaza, Tuileries Plaza, The Kansas City Star, Red X, Ward Parkway Center and Zona Rosa.
At the Cable-Dahmer location at West 103rd Street and Wornall Road, Dri Duck, an Overland Park outdoor and work apparel manufacturer, dropped off 500 new coats and jackets to get the coat-drive started.
The company, which is a title sponsor for the first time this year, plans to donate up to 1,500 items.
Cathy Groves, a company representative, said that Dri Duck has participated in the program for several years.
"We believe in the project so much," she said. "We are really excited to give back to the community."
