Vizada: Vizada extends mobile satellite handheld offering with Iridium 9555
Paris, France, Nov 14, 2008 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) --
Vizada, the world's leadingprovider of global satellite communications solutions with more market share on more satellite networks than any other provider, has integrated the Iridium 9555 handset into its mobile satellite services (MSS) portfolio. The move enables Vizada to offer handheld customers with more choice and greater value through a single point of contact for equipment, airtime, training, customer care and repair, as well as value-added solutions from the Vizada SolutionsTM portfolio.
The Iridium 9555 handset, launched on October 20 2008 by Iridium, is significantly reduced in size and offers a more ergonomic form, intuitive user interface, brighter, larger screen, and new features such as an internally-stowed antenna. The Iridium 9555 has been engineered to withstand and perform well in the world's most rugged and remote environments, and benefits from truly global coverage including the poles.
Vizada, the world's leading provider of Iridium services, combines the full range of Iridium equipment and accessories with competitive & flexible airtime agreements, training through the Vizada Training Academy, an official Iridium European Repair Center and 24/7 Customer Care.
Vizada also provides customers industry-leading Vizada SolutionsTM to enhance the Iridium basic connectivity. These include The Source , an account management tool which enables Vizada Service Providers to track and manage end-user accounts. Vizada is the only provider to enable the activation of Iridium subscribers by batch, allowing Service Providers to react within a matter of hours to emergency communications requirements following a natural disaster for example.
The SkyFile Mail application compresses data sent via email, fax and SMS by up 90% before sending and includes a crash recovery function, anti-virus and an anti-spam filter. SkyFile Mail is also fully integrated into Iridium's RUDICS platform to reduce connection times by more than 50%. These two main features of SkyFile Mail enable Iridium users to significantly reduce mobile communications costs.
"With many years' experience providing a handheld offering to mobile satellite customers, Vizada has the resources, infrastructure and expertise in place to provide an unbeatable Iridium 9555 offering," said Jeroen Jaspers, Product Director at Vizada.
"Through the Vizada and Iridium partnership, emergency responders, government & military users etc. around the world can rely on a secure, real-time and mission-critical mobile satellite communications service."
Iridium 9555 by Vizada is exclusively available through Vizada Service Providers. More than 250 advance orders have already been taken for the service, which will be commercially available by end November 2008.
