Vivint Employee Sets Guinness World Record for Highest Altitude Videogame Console Session

PROVO, Utah --(Business Wire)--

Vivint™, a leading provider of smart home technology, congratulates employee Will Cruz for setting the Guinness World Record for Highest Altitude Videogame Console Session. Sponsored by videogame developer and publisher Ubisoft, Cruz played the soon-to-be-released Far Cry 4 in the Everest Himalayas at an elevation of 18,569 feet.

"This was the opportunity of a lifetime," Cruz said. "It was more than just an amazing hike - it was a real journey to get to know a new country and culture. I had never been outside the U.S. before, and I'm grateful Vivint was flexible so I could have an experience that changed how I understand the world."

Twenty-three-year-old Cruz was selected this summer as part of Ubisoft's Quest for Everest: The Gaming Journey of a Lifetime, an online contest that would fly a fan across the globe to see the real-world inspiration behind the Himalayan-setvideogame Far Cry 4. The winner would also join an Ubisoft team to attempt a new world record for high altitude gaming.

An avid gamer and hiking enthusiast, Cruz entered the contest with a video of himself climbing Utah's highest mountain, King's Peak. As part of the trip, Cruz visited Kathmandu, Nepal; Khumjung Monastery; the Khumbu Glacier; and the Ubisoft Base Camp at Mt. Everest.

"We were all cheering Will on in his adventure," said Alex Dunn, president of Vivint. "Will embodies what we look for here at Vivint - someone with integrity, passion and a dedication to hard work, whether that's climbing one of the world's tallest peaks or excelling in his profession."

Cruz is a staffing supervisor at Vivint's call center, helping the center's 800 employees provide award-winning customer service.
