Visual Retailing: Visual Retailing Sees Further Expansion With Broadband Link; Innovative Online Firm To Benefit From Nynet High-Speed Broadband

(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
RDATE:01102008

Revolutionary broadband initiative NYnet has helped international
software developers Visual Retailing expand their business in North
Yorkshire with a super-fast broadband-enabled office on Roecliffe
Business Park.

Originally based in York, Visual Retailing create virtual reality
software for the fashion industry. High-street retailers use the
company's products to design and improve store layouts, so customers
get the best possible shopping experience. At present the company has
145 high profile clients including Levi's, Macy's and O'Neill, and is
expanding rapidly with a product development team in Romania and
several resellers based throughout Europe, the United States and India.

With this in mind, Managing Director Colin Liversedge decided to move
the business to larger premises. The firm needed a location near the A1
with a broadband service that was fast, reliable, and robust enough to
handle large volumes of traffic - allowing the team to develop and
demonstrate their products online, in real-time, with colleagues and
customers throughout the world.

By connecting Roecliffe Business Park to their core network, NYnet - in
partnership with Internet Service Provider Save9 - were able to offer
Visual Retailing super-fast broadband capability. This service is now
available to other Internet Service Providers in the region that wish
to supply businesses with high speed broadband.

Colin Liversedge, Managing Director of Visual Retailing, said: "We were
delighted to be able to keep our operations in North Yorkshire and even
more pleased to be situated in such a beautiful rural office space with
excellent connectivity. Without NYnet we would have had to find an
office near to an exchange to guarantee the high-speed uninterrupted
connection our business demands."

David Cullen, NYnet Chief Executive, said: "We were pleased to be able
to offer a package to Save9 that would enable Visual Retailing to keep
its base in North Yorkshire. Innovative companies like this need to be
encouraged to stay in the region and enhance the local economy. We are

working with Yorkshire Forward to supply more business parks with the
same high-speed network, with a view to making North Yorkshire rival
the capital with its prosperity."

The work of NYnet was recently praised by former leader of the
Conservative Party William Hague MP, who in a public statement of
support said the project is transforming the county'. This follows
NYnet's recent appointment as technology consultants to a major new
EUR3.5 million project to improve internet access and IT systems across
Europe. The B3 - Regions for Better BroadBand connection' initiative
aims to improve Europe's internet access and will run for 26 months,
involving partner organisations from nine EU member states.

NYnet is a unique collaboration between Yorkshire Forward and North
Yorkshire County Council, with funding from the European Union and is
tasked with providing an ultra-high-speed internet network to ensure
North Yorkshire keeps pace with the rest of the world in the next phase
of the internet revolution.
