Virgin Mobile launches telecom services in Saudi Arabia [ICN.com Financial Markets]

(ICN.com Financial Markets Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Virgin Mobile Middle East and Africa (VMMEA) launched telecoms services in Saudi Arabia, marking the biggest rumble in the kingdom`s telecoms sector in six years.

The part-owned by British entrepreneur Richard Branson's Virgin Group is launching two brands including Virgin Mobile that is aimed to the youth and Friendi Mobile that actually targets Saudi's expatriate workers.

The youth is the company`s competitive advantage explaining the reason why VMMEA is aiming to tap into Saudi Arabia`s large and relatively young population.

The CIA Factbook estimates that 47 percent of the Saudi population 27.3 million people are under the age of 25.

This launch is all about timing, days before Islam`s annual hajj pilgrimage where around 1.4 million Muslim pilgrims are expected to arrive in the kingdom this year.
