Virgin Australia begins codeshare on Singapore Airlines flights
Apr 06, 2012 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) --
Virgin Australia has announced the commencement of codeshare on Singapore Airlines flights to Asia and beyond.
Following the launch of reciprocal frequent flyer recognition last year and the start of Singapore Airlines' codeshare on Virgin Australia domestic flights last month, Virgin Australia will commence codeshare on Singapore Airlines' network this month, beginning with flights to Singapore, China and South Africa.
As of now, Virgin Australia guests can book and travel on codeshare flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Darwin and Adelaide to Singapore, and onwards to Shanghai and Beijing. South African destinations Cape Town and Johannesburg will be available from tomorrow, for travel from 13 April 2012. Virgin Australia guests can also book travel from Perth through to London via Singapore, the airline said.
Over the next few months, Virgin Australia will commence codeshare to other destinations on the Singapore Airlines international network including India, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand and Indonesia.
Virgin Australia Group Executive of Alliances, Network and Yield Merren McArthur said: "By codesharing on Singapore Airlines' flights, we will be able to offer our guests a range of new destinations across Asia, India and South Africa, all key markets for Australian business and leisure travellers".
