Vetstreet.com Releases Breed Finder Tool

YARDLEY, Pa., Aug. 31, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Vetstreet.com, a leading website dedicated to providing pet owners with the most trusted and authoritative pet health information available, is proud to announce an innovative new tool to help in your search to find the perfect pet. Our Breed Finder (www.vetstreet.com/breed-finder) uses vetstreet.com's comprehensive breed profile data to provide users with an accurate dog or cat breed match based on their ratings of individual pet characteristics.

The tool asks users to rate characteristics that are important to them — adaptability; affection level; apartment friendliness; barking tendencies; cat, child and dog friendliness; exercise needs; grooming requirements; intelligence; playfulness; shedding level; social needs; stranger friendliness; territoriality; trainability; and watchdog ability. Based on the responses, the tool then takes the user to a list of breeds that are appropriate matches.

In addition to breed characteristics, each breed profile offers a gallery of photos, an overview of the breed, history of its development, personality information, andhealth and grooming needs, as well as advice on finding that dog or cat. Most dog breeds recognized by the American Kennel Club and cat breeds recognized by the Cat Fanciers' Association have profiles on the site, including 228 dog breeds and 48 cat breeds.

"One of the more popular areas of our site is the breed profile pages that we have carefully put together over the past four years," says Dottie Normile, VMD, chief medical officer of Vetstreet. "This tool allows our readers to engage with those pages so they get accurate information in a fun way."
