Verizon Wireless activates new cell site in Bar Harbor

Feb 28, 2011 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site in Bar Harbor that expands wireless voice and 3G data coverage along Route 3 and Route 233 in downtown Bar Harbor, as well as the surrounding areas.

"We at Verizon Wireless have always believed that the best wireless devices deserve the best wireless networks," said director for Network Systems Performance for Verizon Wireless, Richard Enright.

"Today people across Maine are increasingly relying on wireless tablets, smartphones and apps to stay organized and connected. Our investment in Hancock County, and across New England, has kept us ahead of these consumer trends and underscored our belief that any mobile device is only as reliable as the network it runs on." Advantages of Expanded 3G Service in Bar Harbor includes: find and download useful apps like GPS-enabled maps with turn-by-turn directions, mobile banking and social networking platforms; surf the Web to check favorite blogs and read breaking news; play 3D games and stream video clips using V CAST Video; work on-the-go with fast file sharing; send e-mails and text messages with picture and video attachments; and connect with friends across the globe using Skype mobile.
