Verizon expands and enhances 4G LTE network coverage in Danbury, Connecticut


Jul 11, 2012 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- US wireless communications company Verizon Wireless said on Tuesday that it has activated a new 4G LTE coverage in Danbury, Connecticut.

This private investment further enhances 4G LTE coverage in the vicinity of Routes 6, 7, 39, 53, Interstate 84, Danbury Hospital, Old Ridgebury Road and Old Boston Post Road.

Verizon said that its 4G LTE customers can experience speeds up to 10 times faster than customers on 3G networks. In real-world, fully-loaded network environments, Verizon's customers will be able to experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.



The company has reportedly invested over USD3.0bn in its New England network since 2000, including over USD297m in 2011, to increase coverage and capacity on behalf of customers.

As of 21 June 2012, Verizon said that its 4G LTE network covered over two-thirds of the US Population in 304 markets on a wide variety of 4G LTE devices, including the DROID 4 and the DROID RAZR MAXX by Motorola. By the end of 2012, Verizon's s 4G LTE network is expected to be in more than 400 markets, spanning 49 states.


Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ)(Nasdaq: VZ) and Vodafone (LSE:VOD)(Nasdaq: VOD).
