Verizon to bring 4G LTE network to Manhattan, Junction City, Wamego on 19 July

Jul 04, 2012 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- US wireless communication services company Verizon Wireless announced on Tuesday that it is bringing its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to Manhattan, Junction City, and Wamego, Kansas, on 19 July 2012.

When Verizon turns on its 4G LTE network in Manhattan, Junction City and Wamego, customers who live in or visit these areas will have access to its 4G LTE network. This includes the Kansas State University campus and Fort Riley.

Verizon said that its 4G LTE network is currently available to over two-thirds of the US population in 304 markets on a wide selection of 4G LTE devices, ranging from tablets, mobile hotspots, smartphones and more. Verizon also offers a variety of smart accessories, including the FitBit Ultra Wireless Activity Tracker and the Withings WiFi Scale, for customers to use with their 4G LTE devices.

In addition, Verizon's customers can also take advantage of HomeFusion Broadband, which leverages the power and speed the 4G LTE network to deliver high-speed, in-home Internet access for residential broadband, particularly where Internet options are limited or are not currently available.

Verizon's 4G LTE customers in the coverage area should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.

Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ)(Nasdaq: VZ) and Vodafone (LSE:VOD) (Nasdaq: VOD).
