VeriSilicon Releases New Generation of Hantro Video IP Products to Promote WebM and WebRTC
SHANGHAI, Feb. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --
VeriSilicon Holdings Co., Ltd. (VeriSilicon), a world-class, custom silicon solutions and semiconductor IP provider, announces immediate availability of Hantro G1v5 Multi-format Decoder and Hantro H1v5 Multi-format Encoder semiconductor IPs which support 4K x 4K video, achieved through core enhancements and improved memory latency resiliency up to 600 cycles. Both products are offered with OMX IL component pre-integrated into Android 4.0. Additionally, Hantro H1v5 Multi-format Encoder adds temporal and spatial scalability features for VP8 enabling live streaming, multi-party video calls and surveillance applications.
VeriSilicon had an excellent year 2011 on promoting WebM, a free, open media format, and WebRTC, a free, open real-time communications framework, through Hantro video semiconductor IP licensing. Most tier-1 semiconductor companies adopted VP8 video format for WebM by integrating Hantro G1 Multi-format Decoder and Hantro H1 Multi-format Encoder, the only commercially available encoding IP supporting both H.264 and VP8, into their chips and platforms. This enables WebM video in a number of new, exciting devices such as media tablets, smart phones and smart TVs. Under an existing licensing agreement with Google, VeriSilicon has rights to commercially license Hantro G1 Multi-format Decoder and Hantro H1 Multi-format Encoder products to semiconductor companies worldwide and modify the Hantro video IPs to enhance core architecture and add new features.
"VeriSilicon has been a key player for chipset adoption of the VP8 technology. They have secured dozens of design wins in the past two years and demonstrated strong global customer support capabilities," said Aki Kuusela, Engineering Manager at Google's Hantro Video IP team. "We are at the forefront of rapid codec advancements in generation five of our Hantro G1 and Hantro H1 Video IPs, and are confident that 1080p VP8 decoding and encoding will become ubiquitous in internet-connected devices through open technologies such as WebRTC."
"We are really proud to work together with Google," says Dr. Wayne Dai, President and CEO of VeriSilicon. "Based on our leading technologies in HD audio, HD video, wideband voice, together with our world class design foundry service, we are creating variety of new System-on-Chip (SoC) platforms, providing customer silicon solutions and enabling the device industry benefit from great open technologies such as WebM and WebRTC."
