(Ventura County Star (CA) (KRT) Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) May 18--ALERT COMMUNICATIONS PROMOTES MANAGERS: Alert Communications of Ventura has promoted Krystine DeGrande and Catherine Evans to new management positions.

DeGrande has been promoted as area manager for the company, a local authorized dealer for Nextel and Sprint wireless voice and data products and services. She oversees Alert Communications' two new retail stores in Ventura and Oxnard, as well as the company's Ventura office specializing in commercial accounts.



DeGrande. a 1988 graduate of Ventura High, joined Alert Communications in 2002 as a customer service representative, and in 2004, she was promoted as the company's Southern California Nextel service manager.

Evans replaces DeGrande as manager of Alert Communications' commercial office in Ventura.


LOS PADRES BANKERS HONORED BY EMPLOYER: Dave Sabedra, John Braunschweiger and Linda Muse-Tabata of Los Padres Bank in Ventura received outstanding performance awards for 2005.

Los Padres Bank, established in Solvang in 1983, has more than $1 billion in assets.

Top Commercial Lender honors for the company went to Sabedra, senior vice president/commercial lending. Sabedra is a Ventura native who has been a commercial loan professional for more than 30 years.

Braunschweiger earned the company's Top Portfolio Lender distinction for his success as a commercial real estate lending officer in the Ventura area.

A licensed real estate broker, Braunschweiger holds a bachelor's degree from UC Santa Barbara in business and economics.

Los Padres Bank's Top Wholesale Lender award went to Muse-Tabata, assistant vice president/regional loan officer, for her results in originating residential loans in Ventura County.

She is an active member of the Ventura County Board of Realtors and the Ventura Rotary Club.

The holding company for Los Padres Bank is Harrington West Financial Group Inc. (Nasdaq: HWFG), whose sole asset is Los Padres Bank.

CLU PROFESSOR EARNS TEACHING AWARD: Jamshid Damooei, a professor of economics in the School of Business at California Lutheran University, Thousand Oaks, received the President's Excellence in Teaching Award on April 28 at the university's Honors Day Banquet.

The award was first presented in 1995 and was created by Luther Luedtke, former CLU president.

A member of the CLU faculty since 1987, Damooei received his master's degree and doctorate from the University of Surrey in England.

A native of Iran, Damooei served as director general of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance in Iran before becoming a senior economist for the United Nations Development Programme.

At CLU, Damooei teaches courses focused on economic research and international economics at the undergraduate level and in the MBA program.
