Van Der Merwe Named CEO Of Checkpoint Systems

December 28, 2007 (FinancialWire) Robert van der Merwe has been named
president and chief executive officer of Checkpoint Systems, Inc.
(NYSE: CKP), effective immediately. He succeeds George Off, who will
continue to serve as the chairman of the company's board.
Van der Merwe has been a member of Checkpoint's board since October,
and will continue to serve as a director of the firm. Since April 2005,
he has served as president and CEO of Paxar Corp, and became chairman
of that firm s board in January 2007. He served in these capacities
until Paxar's sale to Avery Dennison (NYSE: AVY) in June 2007.
Thorofare, New Jersey-based Checkpoint Systems is a supplier of retail
shrink management systems. Checkpoint's products are designed to reduce
theft and increase inventory visibility using RF technology, shrink
management offerings and labeling solutions.
