Valentine Joins MACo Board of Directors [Cumberland Times-News, Md. :: ]

ANNAPOLIS -- Allegany County Commissioner William R. "Bill" Valentine has joined the MACo Board of Directors, replacing Garrett County Commissioner Gregan Crawford, who resigned his seat August 1. The MACo Board of Directors officially filled the vacancy during its August meeting.



Valentine is serving his first term as a County Commissioner, elected in 2010. He has previously served on the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors as well as the Chamber's Executive Committee, Economic Development Committee, and Legislative Committee. Valentine has participated with MACo as a member of the Legislative Committee and the Education Subcommittee.

The MACo Board of Directors comprises 16 county elected officials, selected by the MACo membership to serve the interests of the Association, oversee its management and strategic direction, and maintain and develop relationships with other parties with whom MACo and counties regularly interact. The Board works collaboratively with the MACo Legislative Committee, which sets policy positions for the Association anddirects its legislative advocacy priorities. Commissioner Valentine has represented Allegany County on the Legislative Committee since his election to county office.
