UZBEKISTAN GETS 19 MLN EUROS FROM GERMAN GOVT
(Interfax News Agency Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)The governments of Germany and Uzbekistan signed tow agreements worth 19 million euros last week, a source in the Foreign Economic and Investment Ministry told Interfax.
One agreement was signed for 4 million euros in technical assistance grants. Germany will provide 1.5 million euros to assist in economic development in certain regions, 2 million euros for professional education, and 500,000 euros to increase bilateral pre- project research.
The second agreement worth 15 million euros involves investment projects in professional education and in the financial sector. The government will provide 9 million euros of that to re-equip colleges that train specialists for the construction industry and utilities (8 million euros as a loan and 1 million as a grant). It will provide 6 million euros for micro finance and mortgage lending.
The loans will be provided through KfW for 40 years at 0.75% annually.
Germany has provided Uzbekistan 202.5 million euros for
several
projects in small business, transport
infrastructure,telecommunications, the food industry, agricultural machine building, and healthcare.
