USTDA Promotes Rail Information Technology in Kazakhstan

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ASTANA, Kazakhstan, Sept. 29 -- The Trade and Development Agency issued the following news release: Today, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency awarded a technical assistance grant to Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), Kazakhstan's state-owned rail company, to help optimize its rail network through modernizing and consolidating its information technology (IT) and management information systems.

"Since 1997, USTDA has successfully partnered with KTZ on several activities, which have ultimately led to the implementation of U.S. technology and services throughout the rail system in Kazakhstan. This important technical assistance will integrate the IT and management systems of the freight, passenger and infrastructure departments at KTZ, resulting in a more efficient rail network," said USTDA Regional Director Carl B. Kress.

By evaluating the systems and recommending improvements, the technical assistance will help KTZ consolidate its IT systems into one comprehensive management information system to allow for real-time visibility of its operations and network.

The opportunity to conduct the USTDA-funded feasibility study will be competed on the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website. A link to the FBO announcements will be posted to USTDA's website at www.ustda.gov. Interested U.S. firms should submit proposals according to the instructions in the FBO announcements.
