*** General Electric Assigned Patent ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 29 -- General Electric, Niskayuna, N.Y., has been assigned a patent (8,165,266) developed by six co-inventors for a "transverse scanning bone densitometer and detector used in same." The co-inventors are James Wear, Madison, Wis., David Ergun, Verona, Wis., Robert Washenko, Madison, Wis., Michael Bucholz, Oregon, Wis., Darrell Gorsuch, Pardeeville, Wis., and Randall Payne, Madison, Wis.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "A scanning bone densitometer includes an x-ray source to produce x-rays and an x-ray detector receiving x-rays emitted from the x-ray source. The x-ray detector includes a cadmium tellurium (CdTe) semiconductor. The scanning bone densitometer also includes a controller moving the x-ray source and the x-ray detector along a transverse scanning path to acquire a plurality of scan images of an object of interest." *** Bostik Assigned Patent ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 29 -- Bostik, Wauwatosa, Wis., has been assigned a patent (8,163,824) developed by Genta Okazaki, Nara, Japan, and Mark D. Alper, Mukwonago, Wis., for a "high styrene SBS hot melt adhesive." The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "Multipurpose hot melt adhesive compositions which are suitable for use as both a construction and elastic attachment adhesive for disposable soft goods, such as disposable diapers, feminine sanitary napkins, surgical drapes, hospital pads, and adult incontinent products. The multipurpose hot melt adhesive compositions have a high level of creep resistance, high bond strength, and relatively low viscosity, and are composed of endblock resin in combination with a linear styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) copolymer wherein the copolymer has a styrene content greater than about 35% by weight, and preferably about 38% to about 50% by weight." Stahl, Madison, Wis., and Christopher C. Scarborough, Madison, Wis., for a "seven-membered heterocyclic carbenes and their metal complexes." The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "Disclosed are carbenes of the general formula: ##STR00001## and including salts thereof, and metal complexes thereof. The carbenes are useful in any reaction where carbenes and carbene-metal complexes are used. The carbenes disclosed herein are particularly useful in asymmetric catalysis."
