U.S. Army, Cyber Security and Business Against a Common Foe conference set for Wednesday [The Augusta Chronicle, Ga.]

(Augusta Chronicle (GA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Oct. 31--A group of U.S. Army personnel, technology experts and business leaders will speak next week on the issue of cyber security.

The Technology Association of Georgia is hosting "U.S. Army, Cyber Security and Business Against a Common Foe" to address the local impact of the Cyber Command Headquarters at Fort Gordon. The event will also address steps local businesses can take to avoid data breaches.

The six-hour conference begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Georgia Regents University and will include participation by 12 expert panelists. The cost is $10 for TAG members and $20 for non-members.

"Georgia has a long history in cyber security, whether it be within health IT, financial technology, or any other cluster," said Heather Miner, TAG's senior director of government affairs and statewide activity. "Continuing the discussion on the importance of cyber security, the talent needed for the industry and how it benefits businesses and consumers will only help towards our goal." The conference is targeted at technologists, consumers and business owners interested in protecting their information, said Miner, who expects at least 100 security experts, tech personnel and economic developers from Georgia in attendance.
