Uruguayan firm offers stock-trading app for Google Glass

(EFE Ingles Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Montevideo, Sep 30 (EFE).- Uruguayan firm Brokerwave introduced this week its Broker Online app that allows investors to buy, sell and monitor their holdings in real time through Google Glass.

The software was presented among 170 innovations at the Montevideo GeneXus conference, where 3,500 information technology and business experts are gathered to discuss the present and future of mobile applications and software.

Broker Online allows the user to trade in U.S. stock markets, Brokerwave executive director Victor Sabbia said.

The app operates on voice recognition software that gives the Google Glass user the ability to check his or her portfolio values and trade by words "without using hands or taking his phone out of his pocket," according to Sabbia.

"There are many instances when investors cannot use their phones," he said. "So we created this app which gives them a tool to check what's going on in the markets when they are on the street, at a library or out fishing. They can use it when they have those eyeglasses on by simply saying what they want to do." Google Glass is a wearable technology with an optical head-mounted display that allows users to communicate with the Internet via voice commands.

Broker Online is still in the prototype stage and can only be activated by commands in English language, but the creators expect to add Spanish capability, Sabbia said. EFE Rag/jab/dr (c) 2014 EFE News Services (U.S.) Inc.
