Uruguay Telecoms Review 2014: Government's Digital Agenda on Track to Meet Universal Broadband Access Milestones

(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dublin - Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/ff54n2/uruguay) has announced the addition of the "Uruguay: Government's Digital Agenda on Track to Meet Universal Broadband Access Milestones" report to their offering.

The Uruguayan telecom market generated $1.3m in service revenue in 2011, and we anticipate it will close 2012 at $1.4bn, up 16.5% year-over-year. As we move forward, we expect the overall market to grow at a 4.3% CAGR between 2011 and 2016, reaching a total revenue of $1.6bn. Over the same period, we expect VoIP (44.8% CAGR), pay-TV (8.1% CAGR) and fixed broadband (5.6%) to be the fastest growing segments. While the fixed broadband segment generated 9.3% of the total telecom revenue in 2011 and 9.8% in 2012, we forecast it will be responsible for nearly 10% by 2016.

Pay-TV will be the second fastest growing segment between 2011-2016, boosted by a growing customer base and the customer ARPS increase. As in most parts of the region, we expect that revenue from traditional fixed telephony and dialup Internet segments will progressively decrease. This will be mainly due to fixed-to-mobile migration trends in the voice segment and the popularization of broadband Internet connections over narrowband (dialup).
