Universal American Leads Friday's AMBG as Global Insurance Index Declines 0.39%

(BestWire Services Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The AMBG closed Friday, Aug. 1, at 1037.97 (-0.39%). Of the 15 A.M. Best stock indexes, four rose and 11 declined. Leading A.M. Best's Global Insurance Composite Index (AMBG) were Universal American (+19.73%) and Meadowbrook Insurance Group (+5.15%). Trailing the list of global insurance stocks were National Interstate Corp. (-12.97%) and First Mercury Financial Corp. (-10.56%).



The U.S. Multi-Line Insurance Index led the sector indexes, with the Asia/Pacific Insurance Index trailing the list. In descending order, the A.M. Best Insurance Stock Indexes closed at:

The Asia/Pacific Insurance Index (AMBAP) closed at 1333.98 (-3.16%). Leading the AMBAP were Dongbu Insurance Co. (+4.19%) and Korean Reinsurance Co. (+0.83%). Trailing the AMBAP were Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group Holdings (-5.56%) and Fuji Fire & Marine Insurance (-5.40%).
