United States : CISCO, SENSITY SYSTEMS announce strategic relationship [TendersInfo (India)]


(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) To create joint solution to convert city lighting infrastructure into a distributed sensing platform that will be used in Smart City applications, Cisco and Light Sensory Networks provider Sensity Systems, finalised a strategic relationship.



Cisco will join Sensity's NetSense Partner Program to create Smart City applications which consists of retail analytics, smart parking, lighting, public security and safety solutions.

The joint solution is predicted to use Sensity's sensor nodes incorporated into Cisco's City Infrastructure Management (CIM) software.


In order to allow application developers to develop Smart City applications the data from Light Sensory Network, exposed through Cisco's CIM APIs, the solution will embed sensors like video sensors with analytics within LED lighting infrastructure.

"Our strategic relationship with Sensity marks a defining moment in our journey of innovation in the Internet of Things and the Internet of Everything. We share a common vision with Sensity, recognising that smart lighting is just the tip of the iceberg," Cisco EVP of industry solutions Wim Elfrink said.

He added, "This new platform will create enormous potential for cities as they continue to roll out a platform that can deliver multiple applications and services, all using a common set of sensors, analytics and network for greater productivity, efficiency, and public safety."
