GRAND CAYMAN, July 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its plan for international expansion, Miami headquartered Unified Technologies announced today the opening of Unified Tech Cayman Ltd. in the Caribbean island of Grand Cayman. Unified Technologies invited local technology leaders to the launch announcement as well as a preview of the latest technology solutions from VMWare and Palo Alto Networks today at the Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort.

By leveraging the expertise of local professionals Rob Eyers and Nigel Thomas, who will be able to regularly draw from Unified's Miami Center of Excellence, Unified Technologies is now poised to bring its world-class experts to Grand Cayman and the greater English Caribbean with local support and account management.

Unified's new Cayman business, in addition to its Caribbean headquarters in Puerto Rico, are expected to grow significantly over the next two years, making Unified one of the leading providers of secure, unified systems and networks, providing world class solutions and services throughout the major markets of the Caribbean.

Mr. Eyers brings to the table over 22 years of experiencein the IT Industry.  He has spent the last 16 years in the Caribbean region. Mr. Eyers is joined by Nigel Thomas, a senior consultant who will use his Masters in Information Technology, technical certifications, and his 15+ years of hands-on experience to perfect his team-oriented approach to the design and implementation of a wide range of networks, virtualized servers and storage, data center technologies and voice over IP/collaborative networks.



Unified also appointed a Cayman-based Board of Directors to ensure its efforts in the English Caribbean have the best chance of success. In addition to Tony Silva, a 30 year veteran of IT and communication solutions and service, and a graduate of Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management (EMBA) and MIT's Entrepreneurial Masters Program (class of 2000), the board also includes highly regarded members of the Cayman community in James "Jim" O'Neill and Linda Barlow.

Jim is currently the managing Director of Global Fidelity Bank, Ltd in the Cayman Islands. He joined Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Limited's Board of Directors in May 2008. He has an MBA in International Banking and has been working in the international commercial banking industry for over 43 years. He is chairman of Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Limited's Audit, Compliance and Risk Policy Committee, is a former President and Secretary for the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce and was a trustee of the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce Pension from 2002 to 2009. He was also secretary and treasurer of the Cayman Islands Bankers Association, is an active member of the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman and was a Director of the Cayman Islands "Meals on Wheels" programme. Jim was also CEO and treasurer of the Central Caribbean Marine Institute.


Linda brings over 40 years of experience as an educator and law firm staff member in the United Kingdom, Canada, the Bahamas and the Cayman Islands. In addition to her teaching accreditations, she holds an LL.B. (Hons) Cayman Islands Law School, graduating in 2010. She also has volunteered extensively, including teaching prisoners at the Northward Prison, acted as the Secretary of the Cayman Islands Cancer Society and as the Secretary of the Cayman Islands Athletic Association
