New roads turn into croplands Twenty new asphalted roads that were yet to be opened to traffic inexplicably turned into croplands in Sihong county, Jiangsu province. They were covered with over a half-meter of soil and plenty of soybeans, Youth.cn reported.



Residents suspects that this was done to cover up for unannounced visits from the Ministry of Land and Resources. An investigation has been launched.

Du Yujuan, 41, a resident of the city, reported to police on Aug 6, 2012, that her boyfriend Chen Lin fled from her house after stealing 100,000 yuan ($16,150). Police caught Chen 19 days later in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. He denied stealing the money, and Du admitted to making a false report as she wanted him back after they had quarreled. Du was sentenced to one year in prison, suspended for 14 months, but Chen married her because he felt her false report proved her love.
