Travelocity's New FlightStats Let Consumers View On-Time Percentages Directly in the Booking Path
SOUTHLAKE, Texas --(Business Wire)--
Travelers frustrated with unexpected flight delays now have a much better chance of booking an on-time flight. Travelocity today announced the launch of FlightStats, which will place on-time flight statistics directly into the booking path to help travelers make a more informed booking decision. This tool is available through an agreement with Conducive Technology Corp. and its FlightStats platform (www.flightstats.com), and Travelocity is the only major online travel agency to offer this feature.
Data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics shows that December has been the worst month for travel delays every year over the last six years. Last December, nearly a third (32 percent) of all flights were delayed. Furthermore, January and February of 2008 saw nearly 1 in 4 flights being delayed. With these months coming up quickly again, travelers will want to be prepared.

The FlightStats display gives travelers a thermometer-like visual showing the percentage that a flight is on time. Travelers then can click on the percentage to get more details. The on-time data is multi-sourced, real-time, historical data for every flight displayed. Access to this unique information can help travelers minimize the risk of severe delays or missed connections, and empower them to make the best decision for their trip.
