Toshiba Inks Distribution Pact with Polycom KIRK

Toshiba America Information Systems announced that its Telecommunication Systems Division will distribute Polycom KIRK digital enhanced cordless telecommunications (DECT) systems, including KIRK wireless servers and KIRK wireless handsets to be sold through Toshiba's nationwide network of Authorized Dealers.
According to Toshiba, Polycom KIRK solutions have been certified as interoperable with Toshiba's Strata CIX family of IP business communication systems.
"Building upon our long-term relationship with Polycom for the distribution of SpectraLink wireless telephones as well as Polycom SoundStation conference phones and SoundPoint IP desk phones, we are now distributing Polycom's DECT communications solutions to our customers," said Brian Metherell, VP and general manager, Toshiba America Information Systems Telecommunication Systems Division (TSD).
"This agreement gives our customers another telephony product series from Polycom and continues to grow the list of interoperable solutions available with the Toshiba Strata CIX VoIP platform," added Mark Carpenter, senior product manager, Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division (TSD).
Now available from Toshiba's Authorized Dealer Network, the Polycom KIRK DECT systems are wireless solutions that consist of wireless telephones that operate via KIRK DECT wireless server and base stations, ranging from small single cell products to multi-cell networked solutions.
Features of the Polycom KIRK DECT Systems include:
- Operation over wireless DECT technology, minimizing interference between base stations in proximity and any surrounding network infrastructure
- SIP line extension dialing and features, which allow the user to utilize the call handling capabilities of the Strata CIX
- Up to 24 hours of wireless talk time and 200 hours standby time on specific models
- A range up to 5,000 feet via networked KIRK wireless servers and base stations. A single base station covers up to 900 feet
In addition to Polycom KIRK DECT systems, Toshiba also distributes the following Polycom telephones, all of which are compatible with Toshiba's Strata CIX IP systems:
- Polycom SpectraLink 8000 Series Wi-Fi Telephones (Model Numbers 8002, 8020, 8030)
- Polycom SoundPoint IP Desktop Phones (Model Series 300, 400, 500, and 600)
- Polycom SoundStation IP Conference Telephones (Model Numbers 6000 and 7000)
Retail prices of Strata CIX systems and Polycom telephones are provided by Authorized Toshiba Dealers who sell to end users.
