"The award-winning PSA and the launch of the next phase of Be 1 for Change represent a critical turning point in One Love's uncompromising battle against relationship violence. Fueled by the impressive creativity and professionalism of Renegade Communications, our media campaign and college workshops will make a difference," adds Katie Hood, CEO of the One Love Foundation. "Our goal is simple, to make young people everywhere understand that it is simply unacceptable that 1 in 3 women in this country will be in a violent relationship - and that it is in all of our power to do something about it."

Given the high profile of domestic and relationship violence in the news this past month, Renegade and the One Love Foundation are moving fast to leverage the swell of interest in this national epidemic. Focusing on young aduls ages 16-24 and the need for awareness, tools and education to end relationship violence, Renegade and the One Love Foundation have produced, and are rolling out, a comprehensive tool set including a mobile risk assessment app developed in conjunction with Johns Hopkins University and a digital workshop on relationship violence, which includes the feature film, Escalation. The workshop is now being field tested at college campuses with a national roll-out in 2015. "These tools," according to Tim Watkins President & CEO of Renegade Communications, "along with the award winning PSA will enable people to become proactive in addressing relationship violence instead of being bystanders and onlookers that know not what to do."

Recent statistics on intimate partner violence (IPV) back up the need for this digital workshop on college campuses nationwide. While one third of women will experience a violent relationship in their lifetime, the National Institute of Justice and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say, "1 in 5 females will experience some form of IPV during her college career." The CDC adds that "IPV results in an estimated 1,200 deaths and 2 million injuries among women annually," and that "4.8 women are victimized annually." The Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health and School of Nursing state that statistics like these indicate "that college campuses constitute at-risk communities for women."

About One Love Foundation (http://www.joinonelove.org)

The One Love Foundation was created in 2010 following the death of Yeardley Love, a UVA senior and member of the nationally ranked Division I lacrosse team. Yeardley lost her life to relationship violence at the hands of her ex-boyfriend just two weeks shy of graduation. Originally created to honor "Yards" and draw attention to student athletes like her who contribute positively to their teams and communities, the organization now seeks to prevent future tragedies by raising awareness about the warning signs of relationship violence.
