Global Partnerships Accelerate Innovation in IoT Ecosystem

"Technological innovation has been the focus to drive growth for Thundersoft," said Larry Geng, chief executive officer, Thundersoft. "Our company is entering a new phase of growth after being listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in December 2015, evolving from a mobile technology service company into an advanced IoT and smart device products and solutions provider. An ecosystem of innovation around processors, platforms, operating systems, and algorithms is needed in the fast growing, but fragmented IoT market. Partnering with ARM and other major semiconductor manufacturers, our solutions help speed up the time to market and save development costs for advanced IoT devices such as drones, robots, VR and other smart devices benefiting from all of the advanced technology and supply chain driven by the smartphone."

One successful partnership is the ARM Innovation Ecosyste Accelerator jointly founded in August 2015 by ARM and Thundersoft in China, which aims to create an IoT one-stop shop for startups and established OEMs by providing integrated hardware and software expertise as well as resources from the ARM ecosystem. It focuses on smart hardware and expansion of the IoT ecosystem. So far, the accelerator has incubated half a dozen startups from China and the U.S. such as Horizon Robotics, Eyesee, and PerceptIn in the robotics, smart car, and VR areas.

Thundersoft Drives Faster Time to Market for Drones, Smart Cameras, VR Headsets, and Robots

Leveraging its deep expertise in component and sensor technologies, smartphone platforms, and algorithms, Thundersoft has been developing System-on-Modules with customized Android- and Linux-based operating systems and software for drone, smart camera, VR, and robotics, which solve the basic challenges of IoT device developers to quickly prototype and deliver a robust product to customers. "With SOMs, device developers can focus on product definition, user experience, and differentiation, and ultimately shorten the time to deliver innovation to the market," said Richard Yeh, general manager of Thundersoft America.

For instance, Thundersoft is developing a drone hardware and software platform as a plug-and-play solution for drone manufacturers. According to BI Intelligence, shipments of consumer drones will more than quadruple over the next five years. "We are improving our drone SoM and OS to satisfy the needs of various smart drone makers, whose products are contributing to the growth of the drone market by supporting new and innovative use cases," commented Larry Geng, chief executive officer, Thundersoft.

"Thundersoft platform technology -- SoM and full Drone OS -- delivers an integrated hardware and software platform with flight control, picture capture and video shooting, first-person view, intelligent algorithm integration. Thus, Zerotech can develop and deploy Dobby pocket drone and other consumer drones more quickly in the market," said Jianjun Yang, chief executive officer, Zerotech.

Also shown at ARM Techcon 2016 are Alpha Robot, an education robot applying Thundersoft SoM and Robot OS and a 4K video, panorama IP camera with Thundersoft SOM and OS inside.
