Thrive Celebrates National Ice Cream Month with a "Two-fer" Twist

In 1984, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed July "National Ice Cream Month," urging everyone to celebrate in an appropriate fashion. Fast-forward to 2016 and Thrive Ice Cream is also urging Americans to celebrate National Ice Cream Month, this time with a unique a "two-fer" twist: eat Thrive for its deliciousness and unique nutritional boost.

While 90 percent of Americans eat ice cream, nutrition is likely not the reason, says Jeff Holtz, Thrive's Vice President of Innovation. For more than 35 years, Holtz has been concocting ice cream for a number of well-known national and regional companies, but considers Thrive Ice Cream his masterpiece. The reason? Thrive is the first premium ice cream that's good for you and tastes wonderful, two things that often don't go hand-in-hand.

"If you've been in the ice cream aisle of your local supermarket lately, there are endless choices," says Holtz. "However, none of them offer the nutritional benefits of premium Thrive Ice Cream. It can be served as a snack, dessert, or a meal replacement or supplement. Thrive meets the nutritional challenges of all age groups, from picky eater kids to adults who are diet conscious to athletes who need protein to build and repair muscles."

Thrive Ice Cream's nutritional benefits include 24 vitamins and minerals, four active probiotics that support digestive and immune health, inulin fiber, proein, and all natural flavors, ingredients and coloring. Additionally, regular Thrive Ice Cream does not contain high fructose corn syrup, while No Sugar Added Thrive Ice Cream is appropriate for people with diabetes or on low sugar diets. It's also Real Dairy, certified gluten-free, and certified kosher and can be enjoyed by those on low lactose diets. There are four flavors: Creamy Vanilla, Simply Chocolate, Buttered Pecan, and Salted Caramel.

The potent nutritional mix of Thrive Ice Cream enables many who might otherwise miss the joys of National Ice Cream month to partake in frosty festivities. "Many people have illnesses like diabetes, cancer, IBS, or dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) that limit what they can eat. Seniors with dementia can also have trouble eating. What's exciting is they can eat Thrive Ice Cream. It delivers nutrition, melts to a consistency that's easy to swallow and tastes great. A growing number of hospitals, nursing facilities, and even dental surgeons are providing Thrive to their patients," Holtz says. "You will never see a patient who doesn't eat Thrive first!"

Thrive Ice Cream is in the midst of a national rollout of its premium ice cream with the "two-fer" twist of flavor and nutrition. Major supermarkets offering Thrive include Jewel-Osco, Publix, Piggly Wiggly, Harp's, Reasors, ShopRite, and Gristedes. U.S. military commissaries also carry Thrive. Fans can also order Thrive Ice Cream online. Click for a complete list of retailers.
