Thompson Hine Continues Washington Office Growth

Thompson Hine is pleased to announce that Francesca Guerrero has joined the firm's International Trade practice in Washington, D.C. as a partner. Guerrero joins from Winston & Strawn.

"Francesca is a great addition to the International Trade practice. Her core focus of advising clients on international trade, antibribery compliance and national security-related matters are all strengths that will greatly benefit our clients and positively impact our firm's compliance practice," said David A. Wilson, partner in charge of the Washington, D.C. office.

Guerrero brings to the firm extensive experience advising companies on compliance with export controls, sanctions, import regulations, and the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and other antibribery laws. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with companies in a variety of industries to develop targeted compliance programs that fit their needs. She regularly advises clients on some of their most challenging international transactions, including deals in high-risk jurisdictions or with high-risk counterparties. Guerrero also counsels companies through all phases of internal investigations of potential trade and antibribery violations, and represents companies before related U.S. government agencies.

"My clients will benefit tremendously from the Thompson Hine platform," said Guerrero of her move. "The firm's International Trade practice is multi-faceted and growing, and its collaborative culture focused on innovation in service delivery is unique in the marketplace. It is a perfect fit or me and my practice."

Guerrero also comes to the firm with substantive experience counseling clients on national security issues in connection with cross-border transactions and foreign investment in the United States. She has represented numerous clients before the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), including investors and U.S. businesses from diverse sectors such as energy generation and transmission, pharmaceutical development, heavy manufacturing, defense and aerospace, telecommunications, and software technology.

Guerrero received her J.D. from Harvard Law School and her A.B., magna cum laude, from Princeton University.

Earlier this year, Joyce Rodriguez also joined the International Trade practice group as an associate. She has experience with varied international trade matters, including sanctions, export controls and antibribery compliance programs as well as white collar criminal defense.

Guerrero is the most recent in a string of high-profile laterals to join the firm's Washington, D.C. office. Last month, the firm welcomed Dominic DeMatties, who previously worked at the Department of the Treasury's Office of the Benefits Tax Counsel, and White Collar Criminal Defense partner Joan Meyer, who is a former federal prosecutor. The firm also recently announced the addition of a transportation safety team comprising Tim Goodman, former NHTSA assistant chief counsel for litigation and enforcement, and Will Godfrey, former NHTSA division chief.
