THG Energy Solutions Achieves OpenADR 2.0b Certification from the OpenADR Alliance

THG Energy Solutions, LLC announced today that its Automated Demand Response system received OpenADR 2.0b certification from the OpenADR Alliance, a nonprofit corporation created to foster the development, adoption, and compliance of the OpenADR smart grid standard. This certification is the latest and most advanced certification available from the Alliance. THG's SaaS (News - Alert) solution consists of a customer portal, as well as a proprietary ADR controller designed to provide commercial facilities with secure market integration for electricity price and event-based response capability. The OpenADR 2.0b compliance standard streamlines the communication and signaling of price signals and demand response events to a common platform for building management and direct load control.

As EVP of Demand Response, Mark Lane has led this effort for THG. "For many commercial building managers, electricity pricing is the most volatile and costly operating expense. In addition, utilities and regional grid operators are increasingly relying upon demand response programs for peak load management and grid reliability. In most cases, automated demand response devices are now a critical requirement for managing energy costs," according to Lane.

Lane adds "Technology breakthroughs and cloud-based services have dramatically lowered the cost, while increasing performance, security, and reliability of ADR. THG provides industry leading ADR technologies for economic dispatched load management in commercial facilities that previously couldn't justify installation of these systems."

Prior to THG's ADR systems, most demand response was focused upon large industrial and commercial customers with loads of greater than 800 kW. THG's ADR system can economically serve facilities shedding as little as 30 kW, lowering the threshold for almost any commercial sized facility.

Designed for high usage and multi-facility clients, the EMS platform provides turn-key data management of utility and supplier bills, smart meter and interval data integration, sub-metering, and other cost, usage, and demand components. Reports are exportable to commonly accessed file formats, like Excel and PDF. Standard features include bill validation, bill processing, benchmarking, weather normalization, Greenhouse Gas tracking, and ENERGY STAR (News - Alert) Portfolio Manager integration.
