Thermo Fisher Scientific Showcases Product and Service Innovations in Europe that Streamline Laboratory Processes while Improving Results
MUNICH --(Business Wire)--
Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. (NYSE: TMO), the world leader in serving
science, today introduced innovative new products and services to the
European scientific community at Analytica - the premier international
trade fair for laboratory technology, analysis and biotechnology - that
push the boundaries of analysis while helping customers to improve
productivity in today's increasingly competitive environment.
Visitors to the company's Thermo Scientific booth 101/202 and Fisher
Scientific booth 111/210 will learn about its latest offerings for
the general laboratory and specialized life science applications
represented by these two premier brands, as well as its new Unity™ Lab
Services offering for comprehensive laboratory management services.
Analytica is being held at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre from April
17-20.
"While economic pressures are forcing our customers to be more
productive, the need to address complex healthcare, environmental and
industrial challenges is equally pressing," said Marc N. Casper,
president and chief executive officer of Thermo Fisher Scientific. "By
leveraging our scale and depth of capabilities, Thermo Fisher is
uniquely positioned to help them achieve both objectives. Our commitment
to innovation is demonstrated by the range of new offerings designed to
significantly improve our customers' laboratory operations while raising
the standards of their analytical results."
Improving Productivity and Performance in Research and Applied Markets
Thermo Fisher offers chromatography solutions for customers working in
life sciences, environmental, food safety and industrial markets. Making
its debut for the European community is the first commercially available
integrated capillary high-pressure ion chromatography (HPIC™) system,
the Thermo
Scientific Dionex ICS-4000. The ICS-4000 is ideal for demanding 24/7
routine analyses, offering speed without compromising chromatographic
resolution. For applications requiring more precise measurements and
higher throughput, the Thermo
Scientific Dionex ICS-5000 is a flexible and modular system that
offers high-pressure capabilities to bring near-UHPLC performance to IC.
The Trace™
1300 Series gas chromatography (GC) system is designed specifically
to enable laboratories to be more productive without compromising
performance. The Trace 1300 platform features unique patented
instant-connect injectors and detectors that introduce a new level of
flexibility for reduced costs in QA/QC and general laboratories. Each of
the chromatography instruments featured runs on the gold standard Thermo
Scientific Dionex Chromeleon™ Chromatography Data System (CDS).
Making its Analytica debut is the Thermo
Scientific Q Exactive™ high-performance benchtop Orbitrap®
mass spectrometer, the first commercially available instrument to bring
together high-performance quadrupole MS capability with the
ultrahigh-resolution accurate mass Orbitrap platform. The
ultimate in performance and productivity for routine analysis, the
Q-Exactive mass spectrometer enables the operator to conduct three
experiments at once - identification, quantitation and confirmation - in
a system that is fully compatible with UHPLC separations.
The new Thermo
Scientific iCAP™ Q instrument brings innovation to inductively
coupled plasma (ICP). It is an ICP-MS system with unique ion-focusing
technology that improves signal-to-noise performance and increases
laboratory throughput by up to 50 percent when compared to existing
technology.
Also featured is the recently launched Thermo
Scientific NanoDrop™ Lite, a compact, personal microvolume UV-Vis
spectrophotometer that complements full-featured NanoDrop instruments,
placing advanced analysis in the hands of every scientist.
New to the European market is the Thermo
Scientific Gallery™ Plus, a discrete photometric analyzer that
allows food, beverage and water analysis laboratories to simplify
testing and improve productivity.
Thermo Fisher has expanded its comprehensive offering for laboratory
water purification to include the new Thermo
Scientific GenPure, Thermo
Scientific Smart2Pure and Thermo
Scientific LabTower systems. Innovative features include advanced
electrodeionization (EDI) capabilities, a flexible remote dispenser, and
complementary consumables and accessories.
Specialized Life Science Applications Demand Unique Solutions
Long considered a leader in meeting the growing demand for bioscience
reagents and consumables, Thermo Fisher introduced two new instruments
for life science researchers that further address the need for simpler
workflows. The new Thermo
Scientific MYECL™ Imager enables the analysis of chemiluminescent
western blots, stained protein gels and nucleic acid gels using an
automated process that is a highly effective substitute for the
laboratory darkroom and traditional X-ray film.
The Thermo
Scientific PikoReal™ Real-Time PCR System also makes its Analytica
debut as part of a comprehensive molecular biology workflow comprising
instruments, reagents and consumables. Available in 24- and 96-well
instrument formats, the PikoReal offers outstanding PCR (News - Alert) performance in a
small bench-top footprint ideal for personalized use.
Thermo Fisher is also highlighting its capabilities for biobanking,
including sample database management software, new ultralow-temperature
freezers and laboratory consumables designed for increased laboratory
efficiency and greater sample integrity.
For managing critical information, the Thermo
Scientific VisionTracker database software enables more accurate and
efficient data management, tracking and retrieval of biological,
chemical and other samples. It is simple to install and configure with
pre-loaded data for Thermo Scientific tubes, boxes, freezers and barcode
readers, eliminating the need for manual data logging and reducing the
risk of errors for improved efficiency.
The Thermo
Scientific HERAfreeze™ HFU T Series freezers provide outstanding
sample protection while maintaining improved standards for energy
efficiency and capacity. Available in five new capacities, Thermo
Scientific freezers provide a number of options to suit any storage or
laboratory space requirements. In addition, Thermo Fisher provides a
selection of consumables specially designed to meet stringent standards
for sample handling. New Thermo
Scientific Matrix Amber 2D bar-coded tubes expand Thermo Fisher's
extensive sample storage product portfolio to offer protection of
light-sensitive samples, while the new Thermo
Scientific Universal Latch Rack offers easier ergonomic tube storage.
Finally, for cell culture applications, Thermo Fisher addresses critical
factors such as lab space, efficiency and sample protection with
stackable Thermo
Scientific Heratherm™ microbiological incubators, the energy-saving,
bench-top Thermo
Scientific Heratherm™ heating and drying ovens as well as new Thermo
Scientific Nalgene™ Rapid-Flow Filters and Thermo
Scientific Nunc™ Edge 96-well Plates.
