Terremark Executives Honored with the 2012 CloudNOW Top Ten Women in Cloud Award
MIAMI --(Business Wire)--
Terremark, a Verizon (News - Alert) Company, announced today that Jamie Dos Santos,
president & CEO of Terremark Federal Group, and Ellen Rubin, Terremark's
vice president of Cloud Products, have been honored with the CloudNOW
Top Ten Women in Cloud Award for their industry contributions,
accomplishments and thought leadership.
"This award recognizes the significant achievements and contributions of
Jaime and Ellen, who are extraordinary leaders in the field of cloud
computing and deserve all the accolades they receive," said Bernard
Golden, CloudNOW Advisory Board. "I'm pleased that CloudNOW has awarded
these well-deserved honors and I look forward to their continued
contributions in this exciting field."
CloudNOW is recognized throughout the industry as representing the next
generation in IT, and the next generation of women's tech organizations.
CloudNOW, a nonprofit executive consortium of the leading women in cloud
computing, announced today (Feb. 14) the winners of the first annual
CloudNOW awards during the Cloud
Connect Conference. Winners were selected through a process of
industry nominations and applications, with final selection based on
outstanding contributions to the cloud.
"Terremark prides itself on leading the industry and as a key
contributor, I could not be more honored with this recognition," said
Dos Santos. "When you look at the cloud computing market, particularly
in the government sector, there is an amazing amount of innovation and
women in our industry are contributing significantly to this constantly
evolving area of technology."
Dos
Santos has been a critical part in the development, implementation
and marketing of the Terremark Enterprise Cloud Federal Edition. The Enterprise
Cloud Federal Edition is a federal-only infrastructure that combines
the power and flexibility of infrastructure-as-a-service with the
expertise, security and availability that government agencies with
mission-critical computing needs demand for their infrastructure.
Rubin says, "Cloud computing represents a revolutionary new phase for
the IT industry, and it has already proven to be a highly disruptive
technology that's changing the way organizations around the world
conduct their operations. The fact that CloudNOW is recognizing the
thought leadership of talented women in our industry is an important
statement about the role of women in this emerging marketplace."
Rubin
was the co-founder of CloudSwitch, a leading cloud enablement software
company acquired by Verizon in August 2011. Rubin is an experienced
entrepreneur with a proven track record in founding innovative
technology companies and leading strategy, market positioning and
go-to-market.
"When Verizon acquired Terremark and CloudSwitch, we knew that in
addition to the world-class solutions, we were acquiring the best talent
in the industry, and these recognitions prove that we were right," said
Bob Toohey, COO of Verizon Enterprise Solutions, the new global
organization that focuses on delivering businesses and government
customers with fully integrated enterprise-class solutions. "Having
Jamie and Ellen recognized for their contributions in cloud further
underscores our focus and commitment to delivering next-generation IT
solutions to our global customers."
