TelEvolution Announces SoftGnome(TM); Enables All in One PhoneGnome(TM), PSTN and SIP Calling
DANVILLE, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Nov. 1, 2005 -- TelEvolution, developer of PhoneGnome(TM), the telephone industry's first PSTN to Internet telephony solution, today announced SoftGnome(TM), a new way for consumers to virtually take their home phone with them wherever they are connected to the Internet.
SoftGnome(TM) enables PCs, PDAs, and Wi-Fi handsets to be connected to a PhoneGnome equipped landline telephone. SoftGnome(TM) extends the capabilities of PhoneGnome beyond the home or office where PhoneGnome(TM) is installed.
"SoftGnome(TM) is an extension of PhoneGnome(TM) that you can use virtually everywhere," said David Beckemeyer, founder and CEO of TelEvolution. "By using a SoftGnome(TM) configured PC, PDA, or wireless handset, anyone can take their home phone service with them, anywhere there is Internet access."
SoftGnome(TM) creates a virtual extension of the existing traditional telephone, providing PhoneGnome(TM) owners with a powerful new capability. Whether it is across the room, across town or halfway around the globe, SoftGnome(TM) lets the PhoneGnome(TM) owner use their home telephone service just as if they were using an extension phone at home.
"SoftGnome(TM) can be used for placing calls, and can ring at the same time as the home phone, making it ideal for consumers who want to make calls from multiple locations without displaying a different caller ID or who want to take incoming calls to the home phone when they are someplace else," said Beckemeyer.
SoftGnome(TM) includes free software that turns any PC or laptop into a fully-functioning telephone. SoftGnome(TM) also includes all the information necessary to configure a softphone client, PDA, Wi-Fi handset or other Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) compliant software or device.
PC users can use SoftGnome(TM) on their PC to connect via the Internet to their PhoneGnome(TM) to make outgoing calls to other PhoneGnome(TM) users, to traditional telephone numbers and to SIP numbers. They can also receive calls dialed to their regular home telephone number on their PC using SoftGnome(TM).
Calls placed using SoftGnome(TM) are just like calls placed from home: the phone number appears as the caller's regular phone number even though they are using the SoftGnome(TM) miles from their home or office.
SoftGnome(TM) removes one more hurdle to successful consumer migration to VoIP by delivering easy to use PC based Internet telephony to all of us by offering the same benefits to PhoneGnome(TM) home or office users.
SoftGnome(TM) is available as a free trial to PhoneGnome(TM) owners. To obtain SoftGnome(TM) owners should visit their my.phonegnome.com and activate the SoftGnome(TM) feature. Once activated the owner will be sent an email with an activation code and easy to follow set up details.
About PhoneGnome(TM)

SoftGnome offers the same benefits through the PC.

About TelEvolution
Founded by David Beckemeyer, an entrepreneur and former CTO of EarthLink, TelEvolution has developed a new technology that seamlessly joins Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communications with a customer's existing Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) service. This patent pending technology is called PhoneGnome(TM).
TelEvolution has taken a radically different approach to voice communications. Rather than selling the act of talking as a service, PhoneGnome(TM) enables an existing broadband Internet Protocol (IP) connection to transport phone calls. PhoneGnome brings a totally unique perspective to telephony -- voice is a product that the consumer buys, a capability that is owned, rather than a service that is subscribed to.
TelEvolution was founded in 2004 and is headquartered in Danville, CA.
