Telekom and Daimler Announce Partnership for Automotive Online Services


BONN, Germany, Feb 20, 2013 (PR Newswire Europe via COMTEX) -- BONN, Germany, February 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- - Telekom and Daimler to collaborate on connected cars.

Daimler AG is announcing a partnership with Deutsche Telekom that will promote the carmaker's planned launch of communications services in its motor vehicles worldwide. The collaboration is sharply focused on providing new online services and web applications for use in automobiles. Such services include real-time traffic information, mobility options, personal radio and access to social networks. Drivers can take advantage of all online services and their Mercedes-Benz apps - anywhere and worldwide - with the COMAND Online multimedia system. Telekom is developing the unique communications infrastructure required for this innovative solution from Daimler AG, with headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. In addition, Telekom will equip future Mercedes-Benz models with special machine-to-machine (M2M) SIM chips that will ensure adequate mobile transmission capacities.
