Tekelec Features Next-Gen Solutions at CTIA Wireless 2008
MORRISVILLE, N.C. --(Business Wire)-- At CTIA Wireless 2008, Tekelec (NASDAQ: TKLC) will demonstrate practical transition solutions that enable telecom operators to offer new, revenue-generating multimedia services while leveraging their existing infrastructure and providing the flexibility to deploy SIP-based, next-generation networks at a pace dictated by their business needs.
"Tekelec's position in the core of the network means we understand the complexities of ensuring the successful completion and delivery of over one billion calls and text messages every day, regardless of network type, consumer location or device," said Ron de Lange, vice president Global Product Solutions for Tekelec. "Our solutions are trusted in the core of major service provider networks around the globe, including 23 new customers we added in 2007."
At the Tekelec booth #2657, the company is featuring:
SMS Security and SPAM Filtering
The mobile messaging market is growing rapidly and mobile SMS spam, spoofing and other SMS-related scams are a global problem. Operators are demanding spam control and anti-spoofing capabilities to protect their SMS network and subscribers. The TekMedia demo will show how to set up rules to detect and block SPAM messages, filter content, and detect patterns while utilizing the First Delivery Attempt capabilities of the TekMedia SMS Router.
Service Mediation, Orchestration & Screening
Tekelec's TekSCIM service mediation solution enables service interaction between legacy, mobile, VoIP and IMS networks. It bridges technologies, allowing SS7-based, intelligent network (IN) service platforms to coexist and interact with SIP-based platforms to deliver unified services across virtually any network type. In conjunction with Tekelec's TekCore Session Manager, TekSCIM mediates multiple services to create a rich, multimedia user experience. This allows operators to leverage their existing IN resources, avoiding the costly replication of services in the 3G/IMS domain, while increasing their revenue opportunity by extending new SIP-based services to existing subscribers.
Performance Management Integrated Applications Solution
Next-generation networks consist of many different network elements from multiple vendors supporting different protocols. Tekelec's performance management solution delivers monitoring plus the network visibility required to ensure that traffic is managed properly and routed in the most efficient and cost-effective manner across various networks and protocols. In addition, IAS provides vital subscriber data and service usage, including download types and frequency, messaging, roaming activity, calling patterns and other important business intelligence to the operator's marketing professionals and network planning engineers, helping them more effectively target customers with services they want.
Next-generation Multimedia Services Delivery
Tekelec has developed the TekCore(TM) Session Manager to deliver advanced services over virtually any network to any device. Built to 3GPP standards, TekCore's Call Session Control Function (CSCF) enables operators to offer next-generation, multimedia services, without the overhead of deploying a full-scale IMS network. Operators can implement the functionality they need to begin rolling out new services, while creating an evolutionary path to IMS architecture.
Open IMS Solution with our Partners
Building on its commitment to open standards, the company is scheduled to showcase Open IMS at the BEA booth #5037. Open IMS brings together multi-vendor IMS network elements, demonstrating the capabilities of a combined vendor IMS solution running on Tekelec's TekCore session manager featuring IMS applications from third-party independent software vendors (ISVs). A variety of applications are slated to be shown.
