Tekelec deploys mobile number portability solution for Manx Telecom
Nov 12, 2009 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) --
Tekelec (Nasdaq:TKLC) has deployed its mobile number portability
solution for Isle of Man-based telecoms company Manx Telecom, the
network signaling, mobile messaging and performance management company
said on Wednesday.
No financial details of the deployment were disclosed.
According to the company, Tekelec's mobile number portability solution
is supported by its EAGLE 5 signaling platform, which can also support
signal transfer point (STP) functions, home location register (HLR)
routing, signaling gateway, short message service (SMS) routing and
other signaling-related functions.
The company provides a unified platform that integrates database
management and signaling functions. This simplified approach improves
throughput and avoids link congestion and bottlenecks in the network.
Tekelec's solution supports number portability for voice, SMS,
multimedia messaging service (MMS) and pre-paid calls, covering GSM,
CDMA, fixed networks and cable, as well as intra-carrier number
retention.
Manx Telecom is a wholly-owned subsidiary of O2, a Telefonica company.
