Tea witnesses good demand

Total tea offerings increased to 1,57,249 packages at the last week's sale comprising 85,232 packages of CTC 62,782 packages of Orthodox and 9,235 packages of Darjeeling teas.
There was a good demand of CTC, while Assams sold at firm to dearer rates. Dooars and Cachars also followed a similar pattern. Major blenders were active. There was some export inquiry on the larger brokens. Other internal and local sections lent fair support towards CTC varieties.
Orthodox offerings also saw good demand. Whole leaf sold at easier rates. Selected well-made brokens and fannings sold irregularly around last levels. Remainder were easier following quality. HUL was active on fannings. Middle East and CIS were the mainstay of the market.
Darjeeling teas were met with good demand during the last week's sale. Whole leaf sold around last levels. Improved brokens were steady but remaining sorts were lower. Fannings followed an easier trend. Traditional exporters and packeteers with Local dealers were active buyers.

D U S T Y There was a strong demand for 30,635 packages of dust offerings during last week's sale. All clean and liquoring Assams were selling at firm to dearer at times. Remaining sorts tended irregular around last with the fibrous secondaries tending easier. HUL and Tata Tea were active as well the mainstay of the market. There was good inquiry in evidence from Western India buyers for liquoring teas while other internals showed limited interest.
